Kingdom Ru…Oops I mean Tiny Guardians Review | TD Gaming
All in all I have to say that tiny guardians is a pretty good game. It is the genre itself that is definitely oversaturated. The game creates a new and fun experience and from what I’ve seen so far it’s a lot more fun to play than other games in the genre. I’d rather be playing it right now than writing about it to be honest. Basically it takes normal tower defense mechanics and turns them on their head (in a good way).
Basically, in a normal tower defense game the player has to destroy enemies as they go through pathways throughout the level. But it’s up to the player to place their towers to destroy the enemies along those pathways. But in this game is actually exact opposite. In this game, you’re actually the one moving down the pathway and you are destroying enemies as you go along.
It’s a lot like a game called Anomaly actually. If you have ever played that game, then you’ll know how tiny guardians plays. You are locked into one specific pathway in this game, however, you see a lot more flexibility in how you want to move your units around in order to attack the enemies.
The main protaganist in the story is called Lunalie, and it’s your job to protect her. Lunalie actually auto attacks the enemies when they get close as well. But the bad guys will quickly overwhelm her unless you send in some troops in, in order to support her and try to force the enemies back.
Basically, you have to strategically plan how and which units to place where on the map. You have only a limited amount of units that you can use and upgrades that you can use on any units. The more monsters that you slay, the more you can summon your own units onto the battlefield.
Eventually, you have to go beyond just placing bodyguards around her. Each battle will require different strategies and you’ll have to rearrange your units’ positions in order to adapt to what the enemies are doing. You might have soldiers and hunters holding a frontline, and maybe you have a mage that attacks the enemies from far away. She and the mage don’t have as much health, so you want to keep the soldiers and the hunters closer to the enemies and the other units further away. However, wolves might come in from behind you and you’ll have to protect the weaker units. You’ll have to swipe and move the soldiers to reposition so that they can take on the incoming wolves. And then leave your other units to finish up the leftover bad guys.
So it all comes down to placement at the end of the day in this game. There even some bosses and mini-bosses and they’ll always do a lot of damage. Yet, be ready to shift your troops around in order to fight effectively.
This game looks exactly like Kingdom Rush. I can’t get over that and I have to say something about it. The whole art style looks exactly the same as that game. I actually thought that this game was made by the same company as Kingdom Rush. That kind of stinks because this game could of been all original and all good on its own. It didn’t need to ripoff the art style of another game.
This is really a great game and I recommend checking it out, but yet you’ll see what I mean while you’re playing- it looks exactly like Kingdom Rush. Lol.
