SimCity Buildit – A mobile game that is easy to play and enjoyable | TD Gaming

SimCity BuildIt Android

Every day, I’ll spend about 10 to 15 minutes playing a mobile game in order to get relaxed after whole day work. Although I’m not a game addict and spend very little time playing it, I’ve been enjoying a mobile game since 2018.

The mobile game is SimCity Buildit, which is developed by Electronic Arts. It is a city builder game that is available on both iOS and Android platforms. Being one of the products in its famous series of Sim-games, it is free-to-play with in-app purchases.

Favorite parts

I’ve never played a game for that long. Here are some characteristics that drive me keep playing it every day.

Easy to play and addicting

As I’m busy in the daytime, I can’t afford much time for “maintaining a city”. Luckily, this game is so simple that the only things I need to do are building and upgrading properties by using different materials that can be produced in factories and set up the infrastructure for my Sims.

I’m never satisfied with the size of my cities and always want to expand my territories. The game starts with a very limited area for players to build their cities. To expand them, players have to unlock neighboring regions by using designated materials which can be randomly collected while playing the game. Also, there are 4 more cities for players to unlock and make them prosperous. As a result, I’ve been to produce and wait to collect materials to build houses for my Sims and expand the territories of my cities.

Festival-related time-limited contents

During festivals such as Easter, Chinese New Year, and Christmas, there are always time-limited related buildings available. For example, at the beginning of 2020, players can build a statue for celebrating the new year. Whenever you open the game and view your city, you can see the statue. For me, this is proof of my continuous effort to prosper my city. While the festival buildings functionally help increase the number of nearby residences, their graphics are attractive and fancy. All this help running a virtual city becomes an art.

Competitive

Another important feature to keep me playing it is the competition. Bimonthly megalopolis leagues allow players from the world to compete with each other for prices that can be used to expand our cities. By participating in weekly missions, we can upgrade our ranking as well as play levels which will award prizes such as special buildings or materials. Every night, I’ll try to do as many missions as I can and plan for those to be accomplished tomorrow. This certainly is an important reason that keeps me playing it.

Rooms for improvement

Although I keep playing it for years, I’ve some criticisms about the game.

Always overheat my phone

One of the reasons why I don’t play for a long time each day is because it always overheats my phone. Playing for about 15 minutes, I can feel my phone is very hot, just like it’s going to damage my mobile. As a result, I will stop playing it until it cools down again. Although this may be a good sign to remind me not to play for a long time, it is indeed a huge problem for a mobile game. Nobody wants to damage their mobile because of playing games.

Game cheating

Another big problem I encountered is cheating in the leagues. There were several times that even though I accomplished all the weekly missions, my scores are still around half of the top. It didn’t make sense at all. While I search for the reason on the internet, there are multiple comments that the reason is game cheating. Although I can’t verify, I feel the same and it is quite frustrating.

A mobile game that suits busy people

After all, SimCity Buildit is an easy-to-play iOS or Android game that fits busy people who want to relax while enjoy running a fancy city.
